Aviation and Space Exploration

In 2008–2009, I had a chance to create a series of graphic and sculptural portraits from the “Aviation and Space Exploration” cycle. The series consists of portraits of prominent Soviet scientists, test pilots, aircraft designers and cosmonauts, those who conquered skies and space.

When studying their biographies, working on their characters, I admired the heroic achievements of these brave people, their discipline, courage and modesty. They are true beacons and great personalities. I was greatly inspired by touching the history of Russia.

Most of the portraits from the “Aviation and Space Exploration” cycle are currently housed at various Russian museums (The State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow), Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics (Moscow), Memorial Museum of Yuri Gagarin (city of Gagarin), Chkalov Memorial Museum (Chkalovsk), etc.).
