As an artist, I have always been attracted by ancient legends, fantasies, myths and strange worlds. My dreams carry me away into other dimensions and situations, and this is what triggers the creation of unexplainable fantasy compositions like “Solar Energy”, “The Voice of the Moon” and many others. Their essential points are sensuality, eroticism, mystery, and admiration of a woman.
The “Bronze Dance” cycle consists of nine depictions of dancers, in which graphic aspects prevail over sculptural ones — in other words, they could be described as drawings rather than sculptures. Each of these works has its own character, rhythm, state, its graphic manner; each of them is derived from the previous one, forming, thus, a chain whose links represent a separate living unit. Some compositions were created as laced panels: “Tenderness (Leda and the Swan)”, “Breath of Zeus (Danae)”, “Eve”. When working on these compositions, I only wished to hold my breath and admire a woman, to contemplate, to seek the absolute beauty.
The primary role of imagination leads to unexpected compositional solutions — for instance, “A Walk in the Clouds” and “Danae”, where I tried to see the well-known ancient themes through my own eyes.
