The most complicatedand deep genre requiring a lot of responsibility is portrait.
We know of many Old Masters who are remembered in the History of Art uniquely as portraitists who managed to reveal the whole human life in this genre, the complete palette of human emotions and feelings, and who reflected their own time and era.
Among them, one could name Holbein, Velasquez, Van Dyke, Serov.
I create portraits of various people — from brave heroes and important personalities to subtle female images. Working on each of these portraits requires a lot of attention and focus.
There is only one direction — to move deeper, deeper in the character, its personality, to the depth of the most delicate shades of mood. I cannot think of one “easy” portrait where I did not have to face these tasks in one way or another.
