Childhood is a very close and cherished subject matter for me, for I am a family man as shown by my lifestyle and my very nature. My years-long “Images of Children” series includes both imaginary compositions and observations, as well as stories emerged from my childhood memories.
In many of my works I sharpen the characters up to caricatures, exaggerating or softening them, filling them with emotions, I want to make the sculptures more alive and warm.
I create lots of drawings of children, their portraits. All of them are very different, but working with this subject matter gives me great pleasure and happiness, for children have pure souls and an infinite emotional palette.
I am not afraid of sentimentality in art, literary interpretations in sculpture, excessively detailed compositions. I create a world of my own and invite the viewers inside — this is how my life goes day by day.
